OHA: Office of Hawaiian Affairs

Our Roles

Relying on the foundational Hawaiian cultural strengths of ʻohana, moʻomeheu (culture) and ʻāina (land and water), OHA supports forward movement and change in the areas of education, health, housing, and economic stability for Native Hawaiians and the broader community.

OHA enacts its strategic plan to create mauli ola (total wellbeing) for Hawaiians by providing resources, engaging with community, conducting research, prudently managing assets and advocating for Native Hawaiians. This work is carried out through staff resources; procurement of goods and services; grants in aid; and loans.

OHA uplifts the lāhui, with improving the wellbeing of the Native Hawaiian community and raising a beloved, abundant and thriving lāhui at the heart of the work we do. OHA is evolving, growing and maturing. Our strength is in our people and in the wisdom of our ancestors.

Embodied by the actions of its staff, administration and trustees – OHA acts with aloha. We are passionate, knowledgable, and innovative. We value and seek out partnerships. We seek justice for our people.
