OHA: Office of Hawaiian Affairs

Commercial Property

Within the past few years, we significantly expanded our real estate portfolio. The stage for the expansion was set with our decision to acquire 30 acres in downtown Honolulu’s Kaka‘ako Makai area and to purchase the five-acre Gentry Pacific Design Center, which we renamed Nā Lama Kukui.

The acquisitions of commercial properties represent our new thinking with regards to real estate investments. It meant that for the first time ever our real estate portfolio would include land holdings that allow us to generate revenue to help offset expenses from primarily legacy land made up of conservation, preservation and culturally important properties. Since 2012, we have dramatically changed our approach to real estate by emphasizing the importance of engaging in property transactions that are fiscally responsible and financially viable. The new commercial property dimension to our land holdings represents our commitment to building a strong and diverse asset base for our beneficiaries.

For more information on available leasing opportunities, please contact OHA Land Assets Division Resource Management Director Tim Wong at (808) 582-0469.
