Kona Low Flood Recovery

I Ola Relief Fund Administered by Hawaiian Council

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) Board of Trustees has approved the activation of disaster aid funds to support Native Hawaiian households and communities impacted by the recent devastating floods and rains across the state.  Funds will be distributed through the I Ola program, administered by Hawaiian Council.

Beginning Saturday, May 16, at 9:00 a.m., applications may be submitted online or in person.

In-person application assistance will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the following locations:

O’ahu

  • Waialua Recovery Center, Haleʻiwa
  • Hawaiian Council Headquarters, Kapolei

Maui

  • Lahaina Resource Center, Lahaina Gateway
  • Kākoʻo Maui Relief & Aid Services Center, Maui Mall Marketplace

Moloka’i

  • Molokaʻi Cares, 55 Makaena Place, Kaunakakai, HI 96748

Applicants are encouraged to gather documentation related to residency, property occupancy, and storm-related damage before applications open. Assistance will be available for individuals needing help completing applications.

Community members are encouraged to attend one of the following virtual informational sessions to learn more about eligibility requirements and the application process:

Waialua Recovery Center

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs, in partnership with Hawaiian Council, has opened the Waialua Recovery Center to serve as a one-stop hub for recovery services.

What you can get help with:
  • Financial assistance programs
  • Insurance questions and claims support
  • FEMA (subject to availability) and temporary housing applications
  • Legal services
  • Permitting and rebuilding guidance
  • Disaster case management
  • Community resource navigators will be on site to work with you one on one and connect you to the support that best fits your needs.

  • Hawaiian Council – Community Navigators, Financial Assistance, HUD Counseling
  • Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi – Disaster Case Management
  • Keiki O Ka ʻĀina – Access to Child Care Resources
  • Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi – Flood-Related Legal Assistance
  • Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation – Flood-Related Legal Assistance
  • The Salvation Army – Community Navigators and Financial Assistance
  • Social Security Administration – Social Security Card Replacement

Free parking behind the building. Walk-ins are welcome. We highly encourage to call ahead to make an appointment to help serve you more efficiently.

This location operates independently from the Waialua Community Assistance Center at Waialua District Park.


Mahiʻai Micro Fund

The Mahiʻai Micro Fund Program provides up to to $5,000 to Native Hawaiian verified Farm Businesses in need.

 


Hawaiian Registry Program

When applying for any of OHA’s disaster aid and grants, it is a requirement to be registered through OHA’s Hawaiian Registry Program. Get a head start and apply today.
