30+ nonprofits to receive $721,739 in OHA grant funding for food security

Honolulu, HI (Aug. 4, 2020) - Hawaiʻi Community Foundation (HCF) today announced over 30 nonprofits that will receive a total of $721,739 in grants, funded by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, to support community-based food security efforts in Native Hawaiian communities statewide. The grants support HCF Strong Funds for each county, including Kaua‘i Strong, O‘ahu Strong, Maui County Strong, and Hawai‘i Island Strong, which were created by HCF to build community resilience by providing resources for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. OHA grants charter schools with $1.5 million

HONOLULU (August 18, 2014) – Trustees for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs have awarded a $1.5 million grant to charter schools with a special emphasis on Native Hawaiian language, culture and traditions. The OHA grant is expected over the next year to help the 17 Hawaiian-focused charter schools, which make up the Nā Lei Na'auao, cover expenses from teaching and feeding students as well as transporting them to school.
