OHA providing free parking in Kakaʻako Makai for Hōkūleʻa Homecoming Ceremony

HONOLULU (June 15, 2017) – The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) is now offering free parking in Kakaʻako Makai with shuttle service to Magic Island for the Hōkūleʻa Homecoming Ceremony on Saturday, June 17.

OHA is making available the makai end of the former Fisherman’s Wharf site for public parking. The lot will accommodate 300 cars.  Shuttle service to and from Magic Island will run every 15 to 20 minutes. Please see attached for map of parking site.

In addition, OHA is offering free park-and-ride shuttle service from the following four locations:

  • Māʻili– Māʻili Community Learning Center, 87-790 Kulauku Street, Waianae, HI 96792
  • Kapolei– Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, 91-5420 Kapolei Parkway, Kapolei, HI 96707
  • Kāneʻohe– Windward Community College, 45-720 Keaahala Rd, Kaneohe, HI 96744
  • Papakōlea– Stevenson Middle School, 1202 Prospect St, Honolulu, HI 96813

The schedule for the shuttle service will be:

  • 6:30 a.m. –Check in begins at each park-and-ride location
  • 7:00 a.m. –Buses leave for Magic Island
  • 4:30 p.m. –Check in begins at Magic Island
  • 5:00 p.m. –Buses leave for park-and-ride locations

The shuttle service will be offered through a first-come, first-served reservation system and will be limited to five seats per ʻohana.
