OHA board of trustees to meet on Kaua’i

LĪHUʻE (May 9, 2017) – Kaua‘i residents this week will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) at a community forum and a regular meeting of the OHA Board of Trustees, scheduled respectively for Wednesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 11.

The community meeting is specifically designed for OHA officials to listen to the manaʻo of the public and highlight efforts to improve the conditions of Native Hawaiians. The board meeting is intended to conduct regular board business.  Both meetings are open to the public.

The Kauaʻi meetings are the first in the OHA Board’s annual series of community and board meetings held throughout the state. Below is a tentative schedule for the neighbor island meetings, with times and location subject to change.

Kauaʻi

  • Community meeting: Wed., May 10, 6:30 p.m., Waimea Theatre, 9691 Kaumualiʻi Highway, Waimea, HI 96796
  • Board meeting: Thu., May 11, 10 a.m., Kekaha Neighborhood Center, 8130 Elepaio Road, Kekaha, HI 96752

Maui

  • Community meeting: Wed., June 14, 6 p.m., Location TBD
  • Board meeting: Thu., June 15, 9:30 a.m., Location TBD

Lānaʻi

  • Board meeting: Wed., July 12, 11 a.m., Lānaʻi High and Elementary School

Molokaʻi

  • Community meeting: Wed., Aug. 9, 6:30 p.m., Kulana ʻŌiwi
  • Board meeting: Thu., Aug. 10, 9 a.m., Kulana ʻŌiwi

Hawaiʻi Island

  • Community meeting: Wed., Sept. 6, 6 p.m., Location TBD
  • Board meeting: Thu., Sept. 7, 9 a.m., Location TBD
