OHA: Office of Hawaiian Affairs

OHA board chair Carmen “Hulu” Lindsey statement on passing of Abigail Kawananakoa

We are saddened with todayʻs news of the passing of Princess Abigail Kinoiki Kekaulike Kāwananakoa. As Hawaiians we acknowledge her lineage and her legacy as aliʻi. She was perhaps best known for her philanthropy and gave generously to support Native Hawaiians in the preservation of our language, culture and arts including the restoration of ʻIolani Palace. She will long be remembered for her love of Hawaiians and for all of Hawaiʻi.
