Eight decades ago, the Hawaiian Room opened its doors at the Lexington Hotel in New York City. From 1937 – 1966, this pioneering venue featured talented young people straight from the islands who shared hula, song, and the spirit of Hawaiʻi. This documentary film will take you back there with interviews by more than 20 performers.
This screening will also feature live hula performances and a talk-story/Q&A session with the film’s director Ann Marie Kirk.
