Hawaiians have always prized kupeʻe (nerite shells) first as a food source and then used in personal adornment. Learn about kupeʻe with Kaliko Kaleohana at an I Mana Ka Lāhui event sponsored by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Maui Office on Nov. 26th from 8 am to 3 pm at the Hawaiian Homes Office (655 Kaumualiʻi Street, Paukukalo). Kits available for a fee to make earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
For information on this event, please contact OHA’s Community Outreach Coordinator Thelma Shimaoka at (808) 873-3364 or Thelmas@oha.org.
