Come and be inspired by Hinaleimoana Wong, cultural practitioner and kumu hula, as she shares her knowledge of Hawaiian mele and mo’olelo related to Hawaiian deities, in the 2 of 4 lecture series called, “Kū Kanaka.” Using the striking images by Colin Anderson and Robert King Andia (see above), she will examine the persona of traditional figures, including Kane and Kanaloa, Hina and Haumea and others, to illustrate the affinities between traditional and contemporary kanaka.
OHA’s “I Mana Ka Lāhui” workshops invite Hawaiian scholars and cultural practitioners to share their manaʻo with the larger Hawaiian community. These workshops are offered throughout the year, on all islands, via OHA’s Community Engagement Division.
