Kalaniʻōpuʻu Film Screening in Molokaʻi

January 26, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Watch Nā Hulu Lehua The Royal Cloak & Helmet of Kalaniʻōpuʻu, the 25-minute documentary film that shares the historic return of Kalaniʻōpuʻu’s treasured ʻahuʻula & mahiole. An unprecedented partnership between the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Bishop Museum and Te Papa Tongarewa with support from Hawaiian Airlines enabled Kalaniʻōpuʻu’s priceless garments to return home. In March 2016, a delegation from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Bishop Museum and Hawaiian Airlines traveled to Aotearoa to engage in cultural protocols and return the ʻahuʻula and mahiole to Hawaiʻi for the first time in 237 years.

Join us at the Mitchell Pauʻole Community Center in Molokaʻi. Watch the film & learn how Kalaniʻōpuʻu & his mea kapu have inspired amazing partnerships, cultural connections & provide inspiration for the way we move forward as a lāhui today.
