NIEA calling for art submissions

The committee planning the 2012 conference of the National Indian Education Association is looking for a theme and a logo for the conference that will best combine tribal cultures with technology and education. The image chosen will be used nationwide on all publicity and promotional items. The artist will be awarded $750 and invited to attend the NIEA 2012 honor banquet. The conference will be held October 18-21 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The NIEA was established in 1969 and is the only national nonprofit exclusive to education issues for American Indian, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiian educators and students. These advocates work to keep our native cultures in our homes, communities, and classrooms and lobby on Capitol Hill to ensure that the government maintains its trust responsibilities to the native people of the US.

For an application form or more information about the theme and logo search, email niea2012@yahoo.com or call Mark Wilson, 918-619-4950, or David Tsotigh, 405-325-8175. For more information about the National Indian Education Association, visit niea.org.
