Federal recovery funds flow
to Hawaiian projects


Native Hawaiian health and Hawaiian cultural site restoration projects have been named as recipients of stimulus funds now flowing to Hawai'i following February's Congressional approval of the Obama administration's economic recovery plan worth some $787 billion. The federal money is being funneled to all states through federal grant programs and distributed by local government agencies. - READ MORE >

Hear from the Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger - who's coming to Honolulu for a June 13 concert - and Max Factor makeup artist Nolan Makaawaawa, whose next big dream is to be a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."

Hawaiian poet in the House
Jamaica Osorio took center stage at the White House, where she recited an original poem for an audience including President and First Lady Obama.

Taking care of business
A Hilo group that plans to reinvigorate a dying local industry - maile farming - won first place and $10,000 in the 2009 UH Mänoa Shidler College Business Plan Competition.
