Eō, Lāna'i, represent!

Aloha,

I am informing you of Lana'i's participation of solidarity, joining our spiritual hearts together in Kūkulu Kumuhana. I have received approval from Castle & Cooke Properties (Mae Ulep/Mike Schockett) for Lana'i's event to be held, fronting the flag pole of the old Dole Administration Building on Lana'i Avenue, at the top of Dole Park. I have also obtained permission and approval from the Lana'i Police Department so they are aware of our peaceful gathering. They jokingly said, if we provide hot coffee and donuts they, the police would all come join us. :-)

The Catholic church on Lana'i is celebrating Ash Wednesday on that day and will not be able to participate with ringing the bell.

Request will go out to our community to come together and gather as one. Here is our information:

Kukulu Kumuhana - A Simultaneous Meditation for Hawaiian Justice

Lana'i City, Lana'i
Meet at 4:45 a.m.
Opening Pule - 5:00 a.m.
Closing Pule - 5:30 a.m.

I am still working on program, including pu, mele, 'oli, asking for those who have kihei to wear it. It's been very chilly here and since it's outdoors and still dark at that time, we will also request for participants to bring flashlights/lanterns.

I am also hoping for participation from the Na Pua No'eau students, it all depends on who is willing to come join us at that early hour.

A list of participants will be kept and submitted by sign-in sheet. Photos will be taken, although since it is outdoors and dark, I'm not sure how clear it will be. I will also try and video with my camera.

I'm working on a back-up plan in case it rains for an alternative location. Would we be able to hold gathering in the OHA office if it's raining/freezing cold that morning? There is a covered area in front of the OHA office. If approved for the OHA office as an alternative location, I will note it on information above and advise the police department.

Any questions/concerns please let me know.

Ke Akua pu,

Onaona
