Governor Abercombie proposes past due revenues settlement regarding income from the public land trust. On November 16, 2011, Governor Neil Abercrombie announced that the State of Hawaii and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs are discussing an agreement in principle, subject to legislative approval, relating to income owed to OHA from the public land trust. If ultimately approved, this agreement will finally resolve claims relating to OHA’s share of public land trust revenues from November 7, 1978 to July 1, 2012.

OHA will be holding a series of community meetings in December 2011 and is also taking comments here. To submit comments, please e-mail kakaako.comments@oha.org.
