May 18-19: Hawaiʻi Book and Music Festival

The ALANA  Hawaiian Culture Pavilion at this year’s Hawai’i Book and Music Festival features 14 events with solo authors, speakers, and panel discussions on current books about Hawaiian culture and history, current topics impacting Native Hawaiians. The Main Stage features six hula hālau, including three recent winners of top places at Merrie Monarch, and Hawaiian music artists such as Amy Hanaiali'i, Jeff Peterson, Henry Allen, Starr Kalahiki, Kupaoa and more. OHA Hawaiian Registry Program - Nā Mamo 'Ōiwi Hawai'i

The OHA Hawaiian Registry Program (HRP) provides Hawaiians, worldwide, with a card that verifies their Hawaiian ancestry. The Office of Hawaiian Affairs issues the card after verifying indigenous Hawaiian ancestry through biological parentage. No blood quantum is required. OHA at the Legislature

As part of its mandate to advocate for Native Hawaiians, each year OHA submits a package of proposed bills to the Hawaiians StateLegislature, and the agency’s Board of Trustees also votes to take positions on a wide variety of legislation impacting the Hawaiian community.
