Free Ahupua'a o Kahana mahalo concert Nov. 15Ka Wai OlaA free mahalo concert will be put on tomorrow, Sat., Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kahana Valley to celebrate the support given to the six families of Ahupua'a o Kahana whose evictions were recently stayed. Donations in support of the family will earn scripts good for hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks. Mats, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome, but alcohol is prohibited. Entertainment will be provided by Pilioha, Vaihi and local bands from around the ahupua'a. Family members will speak as well as Moloka'i community leader Walter Ritte and others from Waiāhole and Waikāne valleys, where planned evictions were averted in the 1970s. In Kahana Valley, the evictions were recently stayed to give the state Legislature time to address the issue. For information on the Kāmau Ea concert, call Kela Miller at 428-5835. |
